5 Tips On How To Choose Your Motor Oil
There are asking2expert that determine the choice of a reputable engine oil. Learn how to identify them, from the quality of fuel to the numerous types and viscosities. Follow the guidelines!

Fuel grade
The first thing to consider is that the quality of the fuel is one of the most important elements. It is measured by three primary factors: cleanliness (absence of deposits) and water ...), and the octane/cetane numbers. Last but not least, the quantity of sulfur present in the fuel. The engine's sulfur is transformed into sulfuric acid while it runs, which can cause corrosion and serious damage in the course of time. The European limit for sulfur is 10 parts per million (parts/million) and Africa can be as high as 2000 parts per million (parts/million). The higher the sulfur content in fuels, the higher levels of sulfuric acid that are produced and, in turn the higher the chance of engine failure. This is why it is essential to choose the right engine lubricant.

Environment and use
The environmental conditions (natural as well as artificial) is a major factor in choosing the right engine oil. The engine's performance can be affected by the road conditions as well as humidity, dust, maintenance quality, driving style as well as the condition of the vehicle. These conditions are not ideal in Africa, and Algeria specifically. Hence the need to choose a quality engine oil to protect the engine from wear generated from these external factors.

The quality of engine oils
Respecting intervals for oil change and maintenance is recommended. It is better to choose a premium engine oil that is suited to the vehicle and its driving conditions. A poor quality engine oil will not meet the manufacturers' recommendations in terms of protection time. Because the engine is more susceptible to being damaged, and transmissions more easily are more prone to failures. Good quality motor oils will not only meet these requirements but will also maintain and clean the temperature.

The viscosity and viscosity of an engine oil
The principal function of engine oil is to minimize friction and wear between two elements in contact and in motion in relation to one another. It helps to remove some of the heat generated by friction and to prevent corrosion. The viscosity of a liquid refers to its thickness. In the realm of engine oils, the viscosity is recorded in SAE. So, in concrete terms it is true that a lubricant having an SAE 40 is thicker than a lubricant with an SAE 20.

There are two kinds: multigrade and monograde motor oils. Monogrades are lubricants which have a constant viscosity index. Multigrades are viscosity-dependent, in relation to whether the engine is stopped.

Classification
There are a variety of classifications for motor oils. The API classification (American Petroleum Institute) is one. This international organization classifies motor oil according to their performance by using a series of numbers and alphabets which are at first glance confusing. However, it is quite simple. According to API the API, there are two categories which are class "S" for gasoline engines, and class "C" for diesel engines. The two letters on the packaging indicate that oil can be used to power both types of engines.

The "S" and "C" classes are followed by a letter. The engine oil's performance is higher when the alphabetical order is higher. For instance, an "SL" oil, for example has a higher efficiency than an oil that's "SI". In the case of some diesel oils the four numbers are based on letters (e.g. CF-4). This means that the oil is designed for 4-stroke engines. Simple!

Another type of classification is the ACEA classification (Association Des Constructeurs Europeens de Automobiles) which categorizes engine oils into 3 groups. For gasoline and diesel used in traditional light vehicles, Group A/B stands for. Group C (catalytic converter or particle filter, diesel or gasoline "LOW SAPS"). Then, group E, which is for vehicles with heavy loads.

In the end, OEM (Original Equipment Maker) automakers don't consider the standards to be adequate, and frequently include specifications to satisfy their needs.
