Pastor Chris Oyakhilome was born December 7, 1963, in Edo State in Nigeria. He was raised in a religious family with loving, committed parents. He is the oldest son of Elder T.E Oyakhilome and Angelina Oyakhilome. She was the pioneer of Assemblies Of God Church in Benin City and a matriarch of Oyakhilome families. He also received an honorary Doctor of Science award. He also holds an honorary doctorate in divinity awarded by the Benson Idahosa University. Ambrose Ali University was the place where he was able to feel God calling him to become a minister for the Lord.

The Man of God began what would later become one of the biggest churches in the world when He was still in school at university, with the small group of prayer known as "Youth for Christ," which later grew into the most popular organizations of its type on campus. It also served as the foundation of the future Christ Embassy and LoveWorld Incorporated with millions of followers across the globe.

The LoveWorld ministry under the direction of Chris, the pastor Chris, became the first pioneer of satellite television and Christian TV programming. LoveWorldSAT is the first Christian TV station that broadcasts from Africa, 24 hours a day, via free-to-air networks. There are currently LoveWorld television stations available across satellite and cable networks across the world.

Christ Embassy is present in Pastor Chris's home country of Nigeria and South Africa. It also has strong representation in the United Kingdom, Canada, United States, and South Africa.
