MIAMI (CBSMiami - Despite the fact that the conflict in Ukraine is on the other side, South Floridians have stepped up to assist those fleeing the country.
A lot of Sunny Isles Jewish residents are currently fundraising and helping organize a massive humanitarian effort.
"Just last night 1,100 arrived," said Marsha Jaquays from Florida Friends of Laniado Hospital.
https://buystocklot.com/user/profile/469944 She said that there are more than 2 million Ukrainian refugees trying to flee their war-torn home. Most of them travel through Moldova, which is bordering Ukraine.
Emmanuil Grinshpun Jaquays told Jaquays, "From Moldova this Jewish community is actually helping help them cross the border and then possibly by providing shelter, food and clothes."
The heart of much of the humanitarian efforts can be found in South Florida.
Emmanuil Grinshpun "My job is to coordinate all resources available from American society to help with the situation in Moldova." We have a full team of people who are on the ground in Moldova working hard to set up camps, purchasing food, buying all the necessary amenities, and coordinating buses" Emmanuil Grinshpun who has been helping in the coordination of the humanitarian efforts.
This is further exacerbated by the reality that Moldova is a country that is among the poorest countries in the world. Yet the people who participate in this project affirm that they will not allow anything stop them from helping.
Grinshpun said, "When our brothers from Ukraine came , we didn't have to think about it, we simply began doing it."
Sentiments echoed by Jaquays.

How many people stayed silent and said it's not me I'm not Jewish and it's not my community, I'm not in Europe. Emmanuil Grinshpun We cannot make the same mistakes that history has made. There's a saying, "If you don't now, then when." If not me, then who?
