The Xbox lineup for Gamescom-Microsoft's debut in-person appearance since 2019, has been revealed.
Microsoft has revealed its plans for the upcoming Gamescom 2022 (opens in a new tab) event, which will take place in the middle of this month in Cologne, Germany. This year's Gamescom will be the first time Microsoft has held an in-person appearance at Gamescom since 2019 however, to those who aren't able to attend (which we'll admit, is most of us) it will also provide an online presentation (opens in a new tab) that will include interviews and gameplay from multiple studios and games.
The Xbox Booth at Gamescom livestream will begin at 5 am PT/8 am ET on August 25 (it's in Europe Remember) and will continue until 11 am PT/2 pm ET. Along with the English-language broadcast the event will be available in German, French, Polish, Italian, Spanish (Latin American & Castilian), Brazilian Portuguese, Japanese, Korean, and Chinese (Simplified) in addition with ASL, BSL and DGS interpretation as well as English Audio Descriptions.
Gamescom will announce a more detailed schedule closer to the event, but this is just an "taste" of what you can expect.
Microsoft Flight Simulator (opens new tab) (Asobo Studio/ Xbox Game Studios Publishing). Gunfire Reborn is (opens new tab)(Duoyi Games/505 Games).
Sea of Thieves (opens new tab) (Rare Games(Rare Games) Xbox Game Studios).
Lies of P (opens new tab) (Neowiz
High On Life (opens in new tab) (Squanch Games)
Grounded (opens new tab) (Obsidian Entertainment(Obsidian Entertainment) Xbox Game Studios).
Pentiment (opens new tab) (Obsidian Entertainment/ Xbox Game Studios).
A Plague Tale: Requiem (opens in new tab) (Asobo Studio / Focus Entertainment)
Minecraft Legends (opens in new tab) (Mojang Studios & Blackbird Interactive / Xbox Game Studios)
Planet of Lana (opens new tab) (Wishfully/Thunderful)
Age of Empires 4 (opens in new tab) (Relic Entertainment and World's Edge / Xbox Game Studios)
There's certainly plenty of interesting stuff to look at. Pentiment, a 16th-century narrative adventure in development at Obsidian, is probably at the top of my list, but Lies of P-the Pinnochio Bloodborne-alike-looks darkly promising too, and of course everyone is waiting for a closer look at Minecraft Legends, the RTS Minecraft spinoff. Another game I am excited about is Planet of Lana, an indie platformer that is due later in the year.
For those who can attend Gamescom in person, Microsoft will have a range of games publicly playable (including Lies of P and Planet of Lana), as well as an opportunity to take a picture with, among others including the VASCO robot from Starfield and five-meter-wide Broodmother spider from Grounded If that's what you're interested in. Here's how to be a part of the fun:
Thursday August 25, 2010 at 10:00am 8:15pm CEST
Friday, August 26th - 10:00am - 8:45pm CEST
- Saturday, August 27, 9:00am - 8:00 pm CEST
Sunday, August 28 9:00am - 8:00pm CEST
Gamescom 2022 will officially start with Geoff Keighley's Opening Night Live, which will begin at 11 a.m. PT/2 p.m. ET on August 23. GamesRadar's best friend, the Future Games Show (opens a new tab) will also be taking place on August 24, featuring a showcase of 50 games from various developers.
