Avanos sold thousands of MicroCool surgical attires and misbranded them between November 2014 & January 2015.

According to them according to them, they claimed that the MicroCool surgical gowns met the strictest standards that was set by the FDA and effectively protected against fluid and virus penetration. In July 2021, Avanos Medical agreed to pay $22 million in the context of a Data Processing Agreement (DPA) to resolve this felony count.
