And Spanish firm Opbrid intends to revolutionize public transport with a new system that can recharge an entire electric bus in just five to eight minutes.



Copenhagen is the world's most renowned design capital. The Danish city could soon be home to one of the most innovative renewable energy sources in the world. Argentine designer Santiago Muros Cortes just won the 2014 Land Art Generator Initiative design competition with his proposal for a massive solar energy-generating hourglass that could generate enough power for 1,000 Danish homes. Burlington, Vermont is now entirely powered by renewable energy sources. The city of 42,000 people gets its electricity from a mixture of wind, hydro, and biomass. Solar farms are great however they take up a lot space. Ciel et Terre has just installed the UK’s first floating solar farm, located in Berkshire. The array is comprised of 800 photovoltaic solar cells and an output of 200kW. New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio recently announced plans to install solar panels on 24 public schools by 2016. The solar schools are part of a larger initiative to install 100 megawatts of solar power on 300 public buildings over the next decade. And with ski season just two months away, snowboard maker Signal just launched an solar snowboard that can charge your electronic devices while you glide down the mountain.



The world's highest vertical gardens are now located in Sydney. It's an amazing sight to behold. Jean Nouvel, an architect, and Patrick Blanc, a French botanist, designed the 550-foot tall building. It features 250 species native Australian flowers and plants. The largest green wall, the North American Green Wall, is now complete in Vancouver. A stunning time-lapse video showcases the construction of the 10,150-square-foot green wall that is double-sided.
