A teenager thought to be at the center of a Minecraft gamers feud was arrested following an explosion that shut down hundreds of schools and colleges across the UK.
The 19-year-old was arrested by Hertfordshire police after more than 24,000 threatening emails were sent to schools informing them of imminent bomb attacks unless cash was handed over.
The emails were faked to make it appear as if the emails were sent by a gaming platform called VeltPvP. VeltPvP is a Minecraft player-versus-player server which is the kind of server that businesses make use of to sell their products to gamers.
A teenager thought to be at the center of a Minecraft gamers' dispute has been detained following a mass bomb hoax closed hundreds of schools across the UK. Hertfordshire police arrested the 19-year old after 24,000 emails were sent out to schools informing them of the threat of attack.
These emails were sent to disable VeltPvP and were intended to cause the abuse of the domain to be suspended.
The National Crime Agency (NCA) said that there was no evidence of threat to the emails that were received this week.

They said they understood the concerns of teachers and parents, but stressed that there was no real threat from the emails that were sent to schools.
We are however taking the communications extremely seriously. We are unable to comment further as this is a live investigation.
Signs were put up on the outside of Cardinal Road School in Feltham after the hoax email bombings.
The feud was based on the idea that rivals had engaged in illegal activities to stop one from doing business with the other.
When asked if he regretted the effects the letters caused to students who were forced to evacuate one of the hoaxers said, "It is terrible, it'sn't the nicest thing."
In blaming VeltPvP, the hoaxer said the network had enaged in a campaign of Direct Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks, which he alleges were used to shut down other rival Minecraft servers.
In response to the fake bomb email threat, parents were urged to take their children home.
VeltPvP issued a statement stating that they were being targeted and harassed by cybercriminals.
"We apologize deeply for those who were affected by this, but we want to inform you that this is a fake."
