Technoblade, a YouTube personality who built an audience of millions thanks to his wry commentary on videos of himself playing Minecraft, has died as his father announced in a video that was posted on the account of his son.

Technoblade's Minecraft gameplay was watched by more than 11 million players. He provided commentary on camera. He described the everyday events of life in videos, some as mundane as going to the doctor for a D.M.V. or as devastating as being diagnosed with cancer.

A video entitled "so long nerds" which was uploaded on Technoblade's YouTube channel on Thursday and has been watched more than 26 million times by Friday afternoon, departed from the channel's usual aesthetic of colorful bricks that are pixelated. Technoblade's dad is instead in a chair with an adorable white dog and an unassuming white background.

His father, who doesn't identify himself is reading a message from his son, which begins: "Hello, everyone. Technoblade here. You can see me dead when you're watching this.

The message then goes on to reveal Technoblade's first name, Alex. He didn’t use it online. A few images of Alex and his family are also included in the video. He rarely showed himself in YouTube videos and preferred to display himself in a crowned sword-wielding porcine.

"If I had another hundred lives I'm pretty sure I'd choose to be Technoblade over and over again," Alex's letter says. "Those were the most blissful years of my life."

His father, who is emotional throughout the film, says that he and his son argued for months about whether to make an end-of-the-line video. His father says that Alex wrote the letter and died within eight hours of writing it.

"I do not think he did everything he wanted to say, but I believe that he understood the major points," he says.

The video concludes with a written note that is attributed to Alex's mother who is not named. She said that her son avoided personal fame and was self-deprecating as his channel skyrocketed in popularity.

"From Technoblade's earliest online days, he was constantly figuring out ways to please and reward his followers, giving away online prizes as well as encouraging good sportsmanship, and, most importantly, sharing his Minecraft adventures to entertain and laugh," she wrote.

Alex's family couldn't be reached on Friday. Hypixel is a gaming company which worked with Technoblade, said Alex's family had requested comments not be forwarded to them. "The video they posted contains all the information they're confident about sharing at this point," Don Pireso, the company's chief administrator told Twitter in a direct message.

Alex first acknowledged his diagnosis of cancer in a video uploaded to his channel in August. The video, which showed Alex speaking off camera, displayed the game. He kept his self-deprecating and humorous manner, avoiding any attempt to be too serious. He also revealed his age at the time, 22.

He described how his first chemotherapy treatment was so exhausting that the doctor told him he could not even sit for a virtual appointment with an oncologist. Then, he joked: "Sitting in a chair I am Superman?"

He claimed he was diagnosed after experiencing severe discomfort in his arm. Although initially, he dismissed the pain as a result of repetitive stress due to video games, he later admitted that his shoulder was swelling after some days of rest.

He also urged people to get the Covid-19 vaccine. He claimed that his treatment for cancer had weakened the immune system, making him more vulnerable to serious illness from the coronavirus.

He said, "I'm going ahead and be a voice for all cancer patients when i declare it incredibly annoying when the hospitals get overworked by patients who are suffering from preventable illnesses." "I'm just saying that we're the first to get those hospital beds."

Technoblade's fans, friends, and followers on social media have praised for his humor and also for being an inspiration for Minecraft players.

Minecraft is distinct from other games in that the owner, Microsoft does not have control over the servers that players can meet online. Instead, players are able to create their own servers and join others to create a vast network of worlds within the Minecraft universe.

Hypixel who manages a network of Minecraft servers, announced that it had created a digital publication where users could write messages, and then they could be printed and sent to Technoblade's loved ones. Hypixel's tribute included the pig's avatar as an effigy. Technoblade's success was tied in many ways to the success and success of many people.
