It's likely that Minecraft will meets its August release date on PS4 after it failed the Sony certification tests. So it's back to the fixing board for 4J Studios, and the team will need to submit the game for certification before it is released.
4J has been hard at work resolving bugs and fixing issues throughout the month. This isn't only for the PS4 version as well as for the upcoming Xbox One/Vita releases. We approached the studio to confirm the delay and find out if it would affect the PS4 version only or other platforms. All three versions are due to launch this month.
Sony discovered some issues we need to fix during their final test of #MinecraftPS4 :( We're fixing, but we need to go through the process over again.
- 4J Studios (@4JStudios), August 20 onwards, 2014. When they release the market, the Xbox One or PS4 versions of Mojang's cult game will be priced at $20 on digital storesfronts. Players who have downloaded Xbox 360 and PS3 versions will be able to upgrade to Xbox One and PS4 respectively for $5 - that offer will last for at least one year past release date. Minecraftservers In terms of what's new with the new consoles, expect larger worlds and a greater draw distances than previous console releases.
The Vita version is cross-buy with PS3. This means that players who purchased Minecraft on the console will receive the handheld version free of charge, while new buyers will be able to unlock the game on Vita and PS3. The price to grind your pickaxe on Vita as with all other ports is $20.
