Minecraft players will be able to change their in-game name soon the developer studio Mojang has announced. The process will begin on February 4th and is quite easy. Once the name-changing system is put in place players can change their in-game names by simply logging in to their account. Any name that isn't being used by other players will be available however, players will need to wait for 30 days before they can change again.
If you're worried about someone swiping your name while you wait 30 days to return to it though, don't be worried. Sagor's blog It takes 37 days for a name that was once yours to become available to another. If you decide to change your name from, say, "MinecraftMasta" to something different, we would not be able to swipe MinecraftMasta for yourself before you had the chance to claim it. The change of names doesn't affect the status of your character's inventory or status, meaning if you've been blocked by someone, changing your name won't allow you to circumvent said blockage.
Mojang also announced that Minecraft: Pocket Edition has sold more than 30,000,000 copies to date. Pocket Edition surpassed 21 million copies back in April, and it widened its reach to Windows Phone users in December but Mojang didn't share the exact number of 9 million new sales were due to the release on a new platform.
