Veloren, the Open-source Multiplayer Voxel RPG, is Slated for an Important Update

Do you want to try a new high-quality free and open source game? Veloren is a multiplayer voxel RPG inspired by games such as Cube World, Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Dwarf Fortress, and Minecraft. It was developed using the fancy Rust coding language, Veloren has grown massively over the past year and it's steadily turning into what could become the next truly big FOSS game.



This release contains some of the following:



Climbing Speed and Cost New Skills Pickaxes can be used to gather gems or mine weak rock. jumping out of rolls can give you a boost. - Dungeons now offer multiple types of stairs. - Trades now display the price of the item in tooltips. Attacks now emit sound effects from the target on the hit. Crafting menu tabs – Auto camera settings make it easier to play the game with one hand. Topographic map option Search bars for social or crafting window Villagers, guards and other players are now spawned with potions and know how to use them. Combat music for dungeons when close to enemies. - One handed weapons can now be used and found in the world - Players can now opt-in to server-authoritiative physics in gameplay settings. - Sort inventory button - crafting stations in towns Translations that are missing can be displayed in English. Large birds are now available - You can now block with melee weapons and parry using a melee weapon - Glider lift is calculated based on the dimension (currently the same for all)Towns are now able to only play certain tracks. Map markers that are custom made are now available on the map. Mountain lake and peak markers can be placed on the map - Added a minimap mode that visualizes terrain within the boundaries of a chunk. Chat tabs - NPCs now hear certain sounds



That's a small slice of the full and quite long changelog for the 0.10.0 release.



Download from the Veloren website. You can download it in a variety of ways, including a direct-download with an application which keeps it up-to-date, Flatpak, Snap, and a myriad of other options. If you do choose to download it today, there's a release party on the official server which could be very enjoyable and the download is quite small , so it won't take up a lot of space.
