Technoblade, 'Minecraft' YouTube Creator, Dies Aged 23

Technoblade the top Minecraft YouTuber, has passed away at the age of 23 following a fight with cancer.



The creator's father posted a video that was moving on YouTube on Thursday, titled "so long nerds," with a message written by Technoblade himself. The video was planned with his family over his final months, but was written by Technoblade about eight hours before his death, his father said. The rapper revealed his real name in the message: Alex.



"Hello everyone, Technoblade here. If you're watching this. He wrote, "I am dead," in the text that was read by his father. "Thank you to all who have supported my work throughout the years. If I could live another hundred lives, I'd pick Technoblade every time. These were the most memorable years of my life.



In the video, his father says, "He was the most amazing kid you could ever ask for. I'm missing Technoblade."



Technoblade who has 10.8 million followers on YouTube, told them of his diagnosis of cancer on the platform in August 2021.



Technoblade's family posted an apology at the end of Thursday's video.



"We as the family of Technoblade we wanted you to know just how much he loved and respected his followers and colleagues. Since the beginning of Technoblade's online presence, he was always strategizing ways to delight and reward his fans," it read.



"Even after his success however, he maintained his humble and jovial nature. He was a consummate competitor with a delightful balance of his confidence and self-deprecating with. He was determined to keep his identity a secret and stayed away from fame. Hanma's Blog We ask that you respect his wishes to safeguard his privacy as well as the privacy of his family.



Technoblade's online store also includes a message paying tribute to the singer, explaining that a portion of the proceeds from online orders will be donated to the Sarcoma Foundation of America. Technoblade's family will manage this store online. We're aware of the joy he's brought throughout the years and we want to make sure that we continue to spread his message," it reads.



The store's store is now a black T-shirt on sale with the words "so long nerds" followed by "Alexander Technoblade" and "1999-2022" underneath.



Technoblade's fans and associates have also shared touching tributes to him online. Some are fellow creators, others collaborate with Technoblade, and some have been following Technoblade for a long time.



Hypixel, one of the Minecraft minigame server, has posted an eloquent tribute to Technoblade too since Technoblade was a frequent participant on the server. In a statement, the founder and CEO Simon Collins Laflamme described Technoblade as "one of the most globally loved YouTubers."



"He will be remembered fondly and will be missed deeply," the post read. "He was a generous, talented, passionate young man with extraordinary potential. We are extremely grateful to him and thankful to be able to count him as a prominent member of the larger community. In many ways, the success of many of us is directly related to the success of Technoblade.



The team also urged users to pay tribute to "any main lobby" on the server, with the permission of Technoblade's family.



Technoblade began his channel in 2013 and quickly gained attention. He's been called "one of the best Minecraft players in the world of content creators".
