Minecraft's silent landscaper Steve is exiting his blocky world and entering Telltale's realm of stories: Minecraft is getting a "narrative-driven" game by the team behind The Walking Dead and Game of Thrones games. Minecraft: Story Mode, like other Telltale games will be episodic and accessible across multiple platforms when it launches "sometime in 2015." Apparently Microsoft's promise to keep Minecraft multiplatform is holding even after the acquisition.
Telltale is describing the game as an "partnership with Mojang," and says it's not an attachment to Minecraft It's an individual episode series "driven by player choice." Both Mojang and Telltale emphasize that they're working with the community to develop the narrative, and Mojang specifically states "We're not planning on creating an official story for Steve [the main character of Minecraftor describing the world of Minecraft in detail."
