Minecraft Maker New Game Revealed as a "hard Science-fiction Game

Minecraft maker introduces a new "hard science fiction' game

April 2012

The first details of his upcoming project have been revealed by the creator of Minecraft the cult video game.

Markus "Notch" Persson said the game was slated to be called 0x10c, space-themed, and set in the distant future.

Users will be charged a monthly fee in contrast to Minecraft.

Nearly five million copies of Minecraft were sold despite it lacking an external publisher and marketing campaigns.

The development company of Mr. Persson, Mojang, managed to build strong word-of-mouth appeal by releasing the title in the early stages and letting users shape how it grew.

Mr Persson claimed he had an identical strategy for the number 0x10c.

Ancient universe

He said the storyline involved a group of humans who were accidentally thrown into a deep sleep for a long time in 1988. They awoke up 281 trillion years later.

The universe is described as on "the brink of dying" and players take part in space battles, looting, trading, and mining operations for planets.

Mr. Persson declared that he had planned for the title to conform to the guidelines of "hard science fiction".

He wrote, "I will try and ensure that the science used in the game has a an actual, plausible theoretical foundation."

"As as many hand-waves as possible, with the rest rigorously explained. Please let me know if you are an expert in the field. I've made a mistake.

Computers that are in-game

Minecraft's appeal is based on the ability to alter the environment that a character is in. However, 0x10c allows players to program an emulated 16 bit computer processor unit that "powers" their spaceship.

Mr. Persson claimed that users would be able to create their own operating systems for the CPU and when enough user-generated software had been developed, users could use it "like normal computers" to run other games or carry out other functions.

On Twitter, he also warned: "I won't stop viruses but the players will have to do that themselves."

Industry watchers anticipate an abundance of excitement following the news.

"Everybody has been looking to see what "Notch" and Mojang would do next as Minecraft was so popular and unique," said Nathan Brown, online editor of the Edge, a gaming magazine. Edge.

It turned business models upside down by allowing customers to buy early and take part in the development. It's interesting to know that this innovative forward-thinking studio is looking at charging for a monthly subscription. This was previously associated with older titles like World of Warcraft.
