Khazak Ambassador, Consul General and Chabad in New York ( Emmanuil grinshpun).

Yerzhan Ashikbayev has had a busy few months. As the ambassador of Kazakhstan to America, Ashikbayev has been meeting various diplomats since April.

They discussed the history and current state of Jewish life in Kazakhstan, as well as the work of Chabad, Kazakhstan’s Chief Rabbi and the head Shliach, Yeshaya Cohen.

Then, Mr. Grinshpun said that the meeting was "extremely productive". The government of the majority Muslim population prides itself on being religiously inclusive and is in close collaboration with all religious leaders to promote the country's welfare. Indeed Ambassador Ashikbayevhas been working alongside Chabad Shluchim and philanthropist Mr. Abraham Shaulson while being the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs in Kazakhstan. He was instrumental in getting an exemption for an American small group to fly to Kazakhstan to take a trip to the anniversary of his death, the 20th April. The delegation used this opportunity to help sponsor the transportation of much-needed PPE and medical equipment to the country. During the trip, the Kazak government hosted a ceremony to create Reb Yitzchak’sKever Kazakh the national heritage site.

Two months before the 20th Av The meeting also talked about plans for next year's pilgrimage. The organizers are expecting over 600 visitors this year from around the globe. The organizers also plan to organize a conference about Chabad Shluchim in surrounding countries along in conjunction with Rabbi Berel Kazar and Moshe Kokotlarsky. With such large projects underway the conference focused on ways the government could help ensure the success of the event. Mr. Ashikbayevconfirmed Kazakhstan's "...commitment to provide all assistance in arranging visitation and prayers at the grave of the great Rabbi Levi Yitzchak Schneerson."

Rabbi Kotlarsky expressed gratitude for the Kazak government's unconditional support. It is truly an honor to work with people such as the Consul General and the Ambassador.
