1. Berdasarkan tujuannya, Psikologi dibedakan menjadi Psikologi teoritis dan Psikologi praktis. Psikologi Teoritis adalah Psikologi yang dipelajari dengan tujuan untuk mengembangkan ilmu sedangkan Psikologi praktis dipelajari dengan tujuan untuk kebutuhan praktis, khususnya problem solving atau penyelesaian masalah.
2. Psikologi adalah sebuah bidang ilmu pengetahuan dan ilmu terapan yang mempelajari mengenai perilaku dan fungsi mental manusia secara ilmiah.
3. Psikologi sosial, psikologi klinis&konseling, psikologi eksperimen.

Psikologi metafisika adalah psikologi yang menyelidiki hakikat jiwa seperti yang dilakukan oleh plato dan aris toteles sedangkan Psikologi Empiri menyelidiki gejala-gejala kejiwaan & tingkah laku manusia dgn mengunakan pengamatan, percobaan & eksperimen & pengumpulan berbagai data yg dihubungkan dgn gejala-gejala kejiwaan manusia
5. Psikologi mempelajari tentang perilaku manusia dan kejiwaan. Psikologi memiliki fungsi atau tujuan yang baik. Karena dikehidupan terkadang terjadi penyimpangan atau kelainan kejiwaan disitulah salah satu letak dan fungsi psikologi yang dapat membantu mempelajari dan mencari jalan keluar dari masalah tersebut.
