It's looking unlikely Minecraft will meet its August release window on PS4 after it did not pass Sony's certification tests. Mc Name The game is now back on the fixing board at 4J Studios. The team must submit the game again for certification before it can be released.
4J has been busy resolving issues and squashing bugs throughout the month, not just on the PS4 version, but in the upcoming Xbox One and Vita releases too. We reached out to the studio to confirm the delay and to find out if it will impact the PS4 version only or the other platforms. All three versions are scheduled to be released this month.
Sony discovered some issues we need to fix during their final test of #MinecraftPS4 :( We're working on it however, we'll need to go through the process again.
- 4J Studios (@4JStudios) August 20, 2014. When they release the market, the Xbox One and PS4 versions of Mojang's somewhat popular game will be priced at $20 on digital storefronts. Xbox 360 and PS3 owners will be able to upgrade to Xbox One or PS4 for $5. The offer will be valid at least one year following the release date. In terms of what's new with the new consoles expect larger worlds and greater draw distance than in the previous console releases.
As for the Vita version it's cross-buy with PS3 meaning users who bought Minecraft on consoles get the handheld port for free, and new buyers can play the game on both PS3 and Vita. The cost for grinding your pickaxe on Vita as with all other ports, is $20.
