HYPERCHARGE - Unboxed Developer Answer a Few Questions for Their Steam Deck Support

Digital Cybercherries, a developer recently said that HYPERCHARGE Unboxed could provide great support for Steam Deck. So we were left with a lot of questions. Thankfully, they were eager to chat about it!



What is it? Hypercharge Unboxed, a classic third-person and first-person shooter inspired By Toy Story and Small Soldiers It is available. It is a shooter that uses waves with defense building mechanics. You must complete the mission of Sgt. Maximize your ammo to stop the destruction of the HYPER CORE



GOL: The obvious question is What did you discover to support Linux / Steam Deck for HYPERCHARGE Unboxed. What were the most important things you had to change?



"Supporting Linux is easy. We already had a significant chunk of the game working and tested on Linux for our dedicated servers, so development was mostly focused on the input and visual side of things. The Steam Deck is a new technology that has presented challenges. GAME MUSIC HALL We needed to understand how to test the game for a new platform, code debugging shader output, and game performance debugging. We didn't have to change anything in the game to work with Linux and Steam Deck provides similar controls to the Nintendo Switch, so support was simple."



GOL: Have you tested it across platforms since HYPERCHARGE: Unboxed now has online play



"Yes Cross-platform support between Windows and Switch has been supported for years by our Server So the cross-platform networking side has been tested extensively."



GOL: Will it be available on Linux before the Steam Deck is released? Or will you be waiting for it?



"We are still deciding when to release the Linux version, and it could be released with one of the future major updates or patches."



GOL: Do You Want the Steam Deck to help sales of Hypercharge Unboxed?



"More players and more support are always welcomed however for us, the main goal is to make sure the maximum number of players on as many platforms as possible can play our game. It's so great on the Switch already that the Steam Deck version will be the best hand-held way to play the game."



GOL: Do you think the Steam Deck will really change PC gaming? While it's a handheld console however, it is able to be used like a computer when connected up.



"Yes we are hoping that it will be a positive impact. We have had a great experience with the Devkit. I believe there is always more space for open consoles.



GOL: Any comments or concerns about HYPERCHARGE Unboxed?



"There aren't enough split-screen co-operative shooters, especially on Linux, and I hope we can make a difference in this."
