It is believed that the handset will initially be offered in the US only by AT&T in a deal that echoes the launch of the original iPhone.

The much-rumoured holophone from Amazon is expected to be announced on June 18. Amazon has released a teaser on Wednesday, which shows people's reaction to the device. The handset's images have were previously released online. The most recent images (pictured below) show a thin handset that resembles Apple's iPhone.

AT&T's competitors have already been infuriated by the reported deal.

Seattle T-Mobile's chief executive, John Legere, tweeted, "Really @Amazon? What happened to pride in your home town?

The handset's images were leaked online.

It is being developed at Lab126 Amazon's secretive Silicon Valley hardware unit.

According to Business Week, more than 1,600 people claim Lab126 on the professional social networking site LinkedIn as their employer.

The latest images also reveal a slim handset that looks a lot like Apple's iPhone.

Multiple reliable sources have verified the authenticity of the image which was designed for internal use by graphic designers at Amazon,' web site BGR stated.

The handset appears to be inspired by Google's Nexus handset as well as Apple's iPhone 5.

As can be seen in this image released exclusively by BGR, Amazon's phone will sport a style that is similar to many full touch smartphones currently on the market according to BGR.

'In fact, it appears to take design cues taken from various existing phones, including Apple's iPhone, Samsung's Galaxy S lineup and even the HTC One, which has a polished, chamfered bezel similar to that seen on Amazon's phone.'

The handset is believed to include a 4.7-inch display with 720p HD resolution and it has a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, 2GB of RAM, and six individual camera modules to make the 3D effect work.

It will run an extremely customized version Google's Android operating system that is similar to the one used on Amazon's Kindle Fire tablets.

The Amazon handset has an edge that's beveled like apple's iPhone 5

The site has previously gathered images of the handset inside protective cases.

"Finally we have images of a prototype phone that has yet to be launched. This gives the world a first look at Amazon's much anticipated phone.
