Minecraft to support UN regeneration projects
Plans for development plans for 300 locations all over the world are being developed in Minecraft so that the residents can determine how the locations will change.
The program is dubbed Block by Block, the program is an alliance between Minecraft maker Mojang and UN Habitat.
Minecraft will allow users to create virtual tours of urban areas.
They will also be able to modify the model and decide how the regeneration money should be spent.
One of the first locations to be modelled in Minecraft as part of a pilot project for Block by Block is the Undugu playground - part of the Kibera slum region located on the outskirts of Nairobi.

"We'll incorporate it into the game so people can walk around and experience as real as it gets," Lydia Winters, Mojang's community liaison manager Mojang told the BBC.
Fyre UK, a Minecraft modeling company has recreated Undugu on the computer. Soon, the people who live around the playground will be able to go to it to check out the plans of the United Nations to revive the area.
Virtual visits
Minecraft is set in a universe made of cubes, each of which is made of the different virtual materials like stone, dirt, iron ore, diamond and so on. The game requires you to stack the cubes, and then break them into their raw materials. This lets you create artifacts and objects.
UN Habitat approached Mojang to assist in its urban regeneration plans because of the ease of which Minecraft can be modeled.
By 2016, 300 of the areas UN Habitat plans to remodel will be recreated in Minecraft allowing those who live in those places to be involved in the way their area will be transformed.
Ms Winters stated, "It's bringing together decision makers with young people to decide on an agreement for public spaces around the world."
Details about the project were announced at the Minecon conference held in Paris between 24 and 25 November.
