Are you thinking about going to The End? Here are some suggestions to find an End Portal within a stronghold, and how to build one that is in a creative mode.
Updated: Jan 31, 2022
Looking for an End Portal in Minecraft? There is only one way to get to The End. That's the End Portal. It requires commitment to leap into a different dimension. Once you've stepped in the End Portal, you can't go back.
We're sure you have your reasons for visiting the End. Perhaps you're looking to beat the Ender Dragon or acquire valuable resources like End Stone or Chorus. Perhaps you simply enjoy the endless, dark view of the End. Whatever your reason, you'll have to enter an End Portal to get there.
End Portals can only be found in the portal room of strongholds. To locate a stronghold you must use the Eye of Enders to lead you to their location, before digging quite deep into the earth to locate it. Once you've found it, you'll find it suspended over a pool of lava. The majority of End Portals have Eyes of Ender in place with the chance of being generated by an existing eye.
When you enter the activated End Portal will instantly transport you to the End and there is no way of stopping it. Once you've reached the End, you will spawn on a central island, with smaller islands around to explore. You'll have to defeat the Ender Dragon on the main island in order to access the outer islands or leave The End. This will open an opportunity to either complete the game' and return to the normal Minecraft overworld as we know it - or explore the other islands.
How to create an End portal in Minecraft
While survival mode requires you to locate a stronghold in order to access an End Portal, creativity allows you to create your own. Here's the End Portal recipe:
12 x Eyes of Ender 12x Portal Frame Blocks
Mark a 3x3 area on the ground. Once you're inside that zone, line your Portal Frame Blocks around the perimeter of the 3x3 square.
STRONGCRAFT
You can activate the End Portal by placing all 12 Eyes of Ender in the appropriate blocks regardless of whether you constructed it yourself or located one in a Stronghold. Make sure that you place all of the Eyes of Ender vertically as the portal won't open in the event that you place even one Eye of Ender horizontally. It will be clear that it is working when you are unable to see the lava (if you're looking at the stronghold version) and the ground (your created version).
If you're planning to travel to The End, make sure you're prepared to fight the Ender Dragon and the other Minecraft mobs lying in wait. Here's how to build a Minecraft shield, as well as how to enhance your weapons for the best odds of completing Minecraft and returning to the overworld in one blocky piece. If you're struggling to find an area of strength in Minecraft, these Minecraft seeds containing End Portals cut right to the chase.
