Do you want to get Minecraft working easily on Steam Deck or a normal Linux desktop with no hassle? Here's how you can do it and it's simple. For this , I chose the PolyMC launcher (a variant of MultiMC) available on Flathub as the official Minecraft launcher Flatpak doesn't save your password on Steam Deck and PolyMC of course, supports modding as well.

- Install PolyMC from the Discover Software Centre on Steam Deck, or Flathub directly for desktop Linux. - Launch PolyMC, and add your account to the top right corner. It is compatible with Mojang logins as well as Microsoft logins. Start by opening the main PolyMC Settings and then click Minecraft in the left pane. Minecraft online Select the option to close PolyMC once the game window is opened. Otherwise, loading in Game Mode / Deck UI on Steam Deck it will switch between the two windows. - Ensure in the PolyMC Settings that Java is updated to the most recent version, which is necessary for the latest version of Minecraft. Click on Add Instance at the top left. Next, choose normal Minecraft or mods that have built-in search. It will install everything you require. To launch Steam directly, go to the Games menu at the top and select Add a Non-Steam Game. Then, look for PolyMC in that list.
Some YouTube comments suggested that you test out modpacks that are optimized. However, I couldn't find a significant difference in performance or power usage to justify their use on Deck when testing on the same map seed. Although controller mods are available, they are not often updated and only work with specific Minecraft versions. Therefore, I suggest using Steam Input and adjusting a few keys.
