These Accounts are Usually Reported Quickly

Secondary accounts, alternative accounts, or alts are accounts that are lower-level or not used as often (some of them are pures or throwaway accounts).

A throwaway account, sometimes called a rag or a Ragger, is an alternative account that has been created to accomplish a particular task, the owner not having any intention of developing the account. Sometimes, it's used to accomplish something dangerous and controversial, such as grieving. This is when players deliberately ruin their gaming experience by using certain aspects of the game in unintentional ways or disrupting the gaming community. This is also known by the term ragging. It can also be used for re-experience or experiencing low-level content and quests.

Many players choose to play both a standard account and an ironman to experience the game in a different way without limiting themselves to only the other. This is also the case for pures.

Alternate accounts are typically used to earn money and train skills on the main account. This allows the player to maintain the wealth while using high-level methods with high experience rates. Runecraft, merchanting , and killing lucrative Slayer monsters are all common methods of money making for this purpose, as they require minimal effort and allow for playing two accounts at the same time.

Secondary accounts can be used to scout Wilderness dangers (e.g. Mining runite or King Black Dragon hunting), as storage in which they are known as mules or mule accounts (mules are not allowed in Deadman Mode), to repair the Blast Furnace and a myriad of other tasks provided they have sufficient levels. As a scout accounts are essential since they can help seek out dangers and avoid your main from becoming a victim of the victim of a player killer. As a player killer, a scout could be utilized to locate potential victims.

Throwaway accounts can be used by players to explore new content that has been updated on their more advanced characters. When an update to tutorials (Tutorial Island, Troll Warzone, Ashdale, etc.) is released, players can create throwaway accounts to explore new content. was released on RuneScape 3, many players created throwaway accounts to explore the new content. These accounts are typically abandoned and never re-created online.

Quests such as Heroes' Quest and Shield of Arrav require a partner. You will need to log in to both accounts simultaneously. This is legal provided it doesn't result in rule breaking or glitching. [2]

Accounts for boosters were in use prior to the Custom Nightmare Zone update. These accounts only had certain quests to unlock bosses which cater to their specific needs in combat and build. Nightmare Zone boosting may still be possible, but this practice has lost significant popularity due to the update.

Prohibited edit sourceProhibited use[edit

Other malicious throwaway accounts comprise gold-farming bots, which are designed to continuously play the game to make gold to sell to players in exchange for real-world cash (i.e. trading in real-world markets. Accounts can also be used as auto-talkers to promote sites trading RuneScape gold.

Throwaway accounts can also be used to harass and scam other players. These accounts are often removed quickly and are then rescinded soon after as they do nothing but negative impact on the overall wellbeing of the community.

Punishment[edit

While other players can choose to ignore the player, untrue throwaway accounts are usually reported by Jagex moderators and banned. In rare cases, throwaway accounts will be traced by Jagex moderators resulting in action being taken towards the account owner's primary account(s). Although the actions of a throwaway account may be considered illegal, the legality of this will vary depending on the specific circumstances and the country of residence.
