Minecraft Mods let you Disable Mojang's Controversial Chat Reporting Feature.

Minecraft: Java Edition's newest update included a brand new player reporting tool that allows players to report "inappropriate chat messages or risky behavior" for moderators to examine. Nfo.So While it appears to be a good idea, many Minecraft players aren't thrilled that it's now available to private servers.

Because this is Minecraft, players can change what they don't love. Mods are in place to remove messages from your profile.

There are a handful of mods that appear to do it effectively. No Chat Reports from Aizistral appears to "strip cryptographic signatures", which associate messages you send with your Minecraft Account. It also allows the Forge, Fabric and Modding APIs. NoEnryption by Doclic does the same thing for Minecraft Spigot server software and No Chat Reports by TechnicallyCoded, also for Spigot, says it's "currently the only plugin which can replicate fully the vanilla behavior" and supports multiple languages.

These mods are, of course, used at your own risk. They work both client and server-side, but should you install them on the client side other servers could stop you from joining if they decide to apply secure profiles. This is a good thing but you shouldn't be able to use these mods to go harassing people who need the protections moderation can provide.

Although it's reasonable to have Mojang regulate their community of players however, it's natural for players to be anxious about their private spaces being subject to moderating. Moderation teams aren't infallible and players are concerned about being exiled from their servers for comments taken out of context. Even if moderation were infallible I don't believe it's unreasonable for players to leave moderation, knowing what it means.

Mojang addressed feedback from users after the update was tested. "We recognize that private servers operate in a way that is independent from Mojang Studios, and many make use of this independence to develop remarkable Minecraft innovations that enrich the community," they wrote on the Minecraft website. "But it has always been the case that Minecraft servers of all sizes must adhere to the guidelines set out in the EULA and the Commercial Usage Guidelines, and our Community Standards. Everyone should enjoy the security of a secure Minecraft experience, no matter where they decide to play.

Mojang also has terribly timed the release of this jocular video about Minecraft being updated in evil ways by a devious leader:

Mojang might claim that players must abide by "Community Standards" however it's important to note that 2b2t is a lawless server that's been known for its sexism, trolling and other bad behaviour. It's a horrible place. I would not want to play there. I'm sure Mojang would prefer that it to not exist. But it's also significant in terms of culture since it was featured in the Design/Play/Disrupt exhibition at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.
