How many Minecraft Players Are There?

Minecraft's player count continues to rise on its ascending trend

Updated: Jun 9, 2020

How many Minecraft players do you have in your life? Minecraft could be the most popular game around the globe right now, with the latest figures showing that it is larger than most countries.

It's not a surprise that Minecraft has achieved many milestones this year on its 11th anniversary. As as of May 2020 there were more than 200 million copies sold of Minecraft which is an increase of 24,000,000 copies compared to the previous year. It's been a great year for Minecraft with the release of Minecraft Dungeons and Minecraft Earth.

The Minecraft open-world Minecraft game we love is not slowing down. There has been an increase in players each year, frequent updates like the Minecraft Nether update and the addition of new biomes, blocks and mobs. Not that players seem to be out of ideas. There are many amazing Minecraft creations, such as Minecraft Hogwarts, and Minecraft house designs. How many people play Minecraft?

How many Minecraft players do you know?

Helen Chiang, Mojang's studio director, writes in a blog post that "126 million players" are currently playing Minecraft every month. This is in addition to the 112 million monthly active users as of September 2019, which was reported in an interview with Helen Chiang, Business Insider, and Helen Chiang. Chiang says, "What we find is it's a game that players keep coming back too." "It may not always be the most popular, since there are a lot of great games, but it's one that players love to revisit."

Minecraft has reached 480 million users worldwide in 2019, due to both paid sales and registered accounts for the free-to play version in China. MINECRAFT Analyst Daniel Ahmad noted that the Chinese release launched in 2017 and has attracted nearly 300 million players. The paid version has been downloaded 180 million times worldwide. This makes Minecraft the third largest country in the world after China and India.

There's no indication of Minecraft 2 on the horizon however, if the first game carries on like this it's not necessary to have one. If you're looking to expand the game, look into these Minecraft mods.
