Minecraft's moderation and reporting features were first unveiled last month, and then received feedback from the community that criticized them as insufficient for the task. MINECRAFT SERVERS Despite some sane criticism and reasoning being levied against the tools, Mojang has said they're sticking with the tools as they are.
MojangMeesh the community manager on Reddit posted an explanation of the decision. "We are grateful for and appreciate your feedback, but it does not mean that feedback will ever change the design principles Mojang Studios adheres to - this includes the new reporting system." The second paragraph in the comment states that players have been commenting on complaints made by Mojang employees. Harassment is a problem and is ironically the reason for the tools for reporting in the first place.
A lot of players, in response this comment, have said that they don't feel as though they're being heard. They believe that every Minecraft server to be a safe place and shouldn't need to be controlled. These features can be removed from your server by using Spigot or CurseForge mods.
If there are no complaints or discussions regarding the features, it is understandable that players might feel unhappy. Many people have spent over 10 years playing this game and feel that they shouldn't be watched. But, it's equally important to remember that Minecraft is a game that's full of younger players, so there do need to be security measures in place to protect players from harm. However, it doesn't appear that anything will change soon.
