Old Seed is a great way to save money on gardening supplies. If you're planning to grow your own tomatoes, you may have a handful of old seeds laying around. These seeds should be stored properly and are still in great shape. You'll be able to use them year after year if they are stored in cool, dry conditions. You can also grow them yourself if you have a greenhouse. You can plant them yourself, too, and save money on buying fresh seeds!
Before you start planting, proof your old seed by covering it with a moist paper towel. Use a piece of paper towel to cover the old seed and place it in a plastic zip bag or mason jar. Make sure the bag is tightly sealed and placed in a dark, warm place. Keep Old Seed in an area with temperatures around 70 degrees. Old Seed should avoid light while it's in the jar to prevent mould and mildew.

You can also use old seed if you're growing a garden in the fall. Many gardeners have found that old seeds are still good to plant the following year. Old Seed don't have expiration dates, and are still unopened. They should be stored in cool, dry conditions, but don't put them in the fridge or at room temperature. They should be kept in a mason jar or plastic zip bag for at least three days.
