Mojang, development studio behind the wildly-successful Minecraft continues its five-year run of growing profitability. Mojang revenue topped $237 million in 2012 while an article in the Wall Street Journal article reports that number to have hit $326 million in 2013, which in turn amounts to nearly $128 million in profits.
The Minecraft platform generated around 93% of the company's total revenue. It was split equally across different platforms including 38% from the PC version as well as 30 percent from console versions, and 25 percent from mobile versions.
Minecraft creator Markus "Notch" Persson, who is still the owner to the Minecraft IP, was the largest expense for Mojang. The company paid around $129 million in license fees to Persson last year. https://posterkingdom.com/ [Image: Mojang]
