If you keep an watch on the App Store (or have an RSS feed to follow it), you might have seen an app dubbed Minecrafted there on a Monday morning. It's an Minecraft client for iOS, a version of the extremely popular indie game that is able to run on an iPhone, and connect up to real Minecraft servers. But before you run to download it, not so quick -- the application has been pulled from the App Store and if you try to locate it on the US store, you'll get an error message.
What's the deal? TUAW contacted the creator of the app, Trevor Wilkin, and Wilkin told us that his original plan was to create the client, then submit it to Apple and then obtain official approval from the makers of Minecraft before putting it up for sale. MC TITAN LAUNCHER Apple took it down immediately, however it took a while before it went live, and Wilkin states that he "pretty was a bit shocked and had it removed from the market as quickly as he could." He's not sure if the app is legitimate or not, as it's all original code, according to the description, however presumably he backwards engineered some of the elements, since it's compatible with the current servers and versions of the game.
Wilkin seems innocent enough to us. He says Wilkin has "no intention of harming the brand, and wanted to launch an efficient tool. I'm still hoping to work out a solution that doesn't step on anyone's feet." We're hoping that too. having Minecraft up and running officially on iOS is a great bonus for both iPhone owners and fans of the incredibly popular game.
