How to use Split-Screen With Minecraft

Do you remember the days when you played console games with your friends on a split screen? You can now recreate those memories and create incredible new ones using Minecraft split-screen. This option is only available on consoles (Nintendo Switch and PlayStation) however, it is possible to create new memories with Minecraft split-screen.

Your TV screen or console must support at least 720p resolution. Split-screen isn't available on PlayStation Vita because it uses qHD (1/4th of 1080p). WiiU does not support split-screen, too, because it has only 480p resolution. You'll be required to connect a qualifying device to a TV screen using an HDMI or RGB component cable.

Check out the following article for more details and detailed steps on splitting the screen in Minecraft.

Minecraft Splitscreen Requirements

As we have already mentioned that you'll require an Xbox console and a TV with 720p resolution or greater. Also, you'll need to alter the resolution of the console to match the TV. Minecraft Java This process is relatively easy to complete. Go to the console's settings and then move on to the display options. PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One and Xbox Series S/X usually set the resolution when using HDMI. However, prior manual adjustments may cause issues that require manual reconfiguration.

You can split the screen in Minecraft locally or online. The local split-screen is able to accommodate up to four players at once. If you have a large TV screen, playing with your friends or family members is a lot of fun. Let's begin with some tips for local split-screen, and later, the online split-screen will get explained too.

How to Split-screen Minecraft Locally

Local split-screen is the term used to describe playing on one console, and not to be confused with LAN (local area network) play, where multiple devices are played. On any device there are up to four players who can join the game. The instructions to play Minecraft in split-screen mode differ slightly for each game console however, the steps below will cover them all.

Here's how to set up a 'local split-screen' in Minecraft:

1. Connect the console to the television using an HDMI or component cable, then start Minecraft.

2. Select Create New if are looking to start from scratch or load a previous game from the game list.

3. In the Multiplayer settings, slide the Multiplayer Game to the off position.

4. Set the difficulty and other game options to your preference.

5. To start the game, choose Play or Create.

6. Use another controller to activate the second player on the console, then select the correct button(s) to add them to Minecraft. For instance, the PS4 utilizes the PS button to activate a user , and the button Options (pressed twice) to add the second player to Minecraft.

7. Select the account of the other player (if you haven't already done so). XBOX 360 and PS3 use the Minecraft Legacy Console Edition, which means you press Start on the second controller in order to enter into the game, and then it will prompt you to log into the console.

How to Split-Screen Minecraft Online

You can play Minecraft on a split-screen screen with your local friends as well as playing with other players online. In the same way, online play is not played on a split-screen however two or more local players can use the split-screen when playing with other players online. Here's how to set up split-screens for online play.

1. Log into your console with your Xbox Live Gold or PlayStation Plus account. Local accounts and players on XBOX 360 or XBOX One cannot join the XBOX 360 or XBOX One. PlayStation Plus is not required for the PS3 however it is required for the PS4.

2. For Minecraft Legacy editions, open on your console and choose Play Game, then Load or Create. Choose Create New or choose a game from your list to create Bedrock editions.

3. You can adjust your game options to your preference before launching your game. On Bedrock, go to the Multiplayer menu and make sure that the Multiplayer Game is activated prior to starting the game.

4. Other "remote players" can choose your invitation (required), to join your gaming. Split-screen technology can only be used by up to four people per console, but they can also play online with other players.

Minecraft's an interesting, fun and imaginative game. It's like any other game. It's more enjoyable to play with friends. You can now split the screen and play Minecraft, like playing those older console games, but with other players.

PC users may be feeling left out, which is understandable. If you have a huge screen is a shame that you're unable to split it or perform the same task on a console. There are third-party screen-splitting tools online that you could explore but they're not official and may not be reliable.
