NFT’ler, dijital bir nesnenin (resim, video, şarkı veya hatta tweet gibi) gerçekliğini, benzersizliğini ve sahipliğini doğrulayan sertifikalardır. Bu belirteçler; sanat, müzik, alan adları, sanal deneyimler, video ve gerçek dünya nesneleri dahil olmak üzere birçok şeyin sahipliğini temsil etmek için kullanılır.
NFT açılımı, Non Fungible Token olarak bilinir. NFT Türkçe açılımı ise değiştirilemez tokenlerdir fakat NFT terimi Türkçe’ye “Nitelikli Fikri Tapu” olarak çevrilmiştir.
Fungible, karşılıklı olarak değiştirilebilir bir şey anlamına gelir.
Örneğin, 10 TL’lik bir banknotu başka bir 10 TL’lik banknotla değiştirebilirsiniz. Her iki durumda da değer aynı kalır ve parayı bozdurmakta sorun yaşanmaz. Para takas edilebilir bir nesne olduğu için değeri düşmeden değiş tokuş sağlanır. NFT’ler ise benzersiz bir şeyi temsil ettikleri için birbirinin yerine geçemezler.
NFT’yi benzersiz kılan şey, dijital bir varlığa sahip olma hakkını onaylayan dijital imzadır. Blok zincirine bir NFT yerleştirildiğinde benzersiz bir dijital imza kullanılır. Bu, bir imzanın aynı NFT’nin tek sahibi olabileceği anlamına gelir.
Dolayısıyla her NFT benzersizdir ve çoğaltılamaz. Dijital bir nesnenin, tıpkı bir sanat eseri gibi benzersizliği ona parasal değer kazandırır. Kıtlıkları ve benzersizlikleri göz önüne alındığında, NFT’lerin bir milyon doları bile aşabilecek içsel bir değeri vardır.
