In with the past and into the future! Today we're introducing a brand new naming convention (well, it's been a while) for Minecraft Java Edition. The previous pre-release was actually the release candidate but we're now making that more transparent by changing the name to be "release candidate". Tiara's Thoughts This means that, in the event that there aren't any major issues following this release, no additional changes will be made until the full release.
The full release is coming soon If you've been living under a rock (it's Minecraft, so that's fine) we'll be rolling out the Nether Update on Tuesday, June 23. This is next week!

Release candidates are available for Minecraft: Java Edition. To install the release candidate, start the Minecraft Launcher and enable snapshots in the "Installations" tab.
