Minecraft Chat Reporting Features will be Available, Says Mojang

Minecraft's moderation and reporting features were initially launched last month, but quickly saw community feedback decrying them for being unsuitable for the job. Mojang has stated that they will continue to utilize the tools despite some harsh criticisms and reasoning.



MojangMeesh, the community manager on Reddit posted an article explaining the decision. "We appreciate and value your feedback, but this does not mean that feedback will always change the design principles Mojang Studios adheres to - this includes the upcoming reporting system." While the comment may appear prickly in its own right, the second paragraph of the comment is a statement that certain players have been making comments whenever a Mojang employee is using it to voice their displeasure about the system. Harassment is a bad thing, and is ironically the point of the reporting features in the first place.



A lot of players, in response this post, have stated that they don't feel like they're being heard. They believe that every Minecraft server a safe haven and shouldn't be controlled. This is the situation that there are a variety of methods to remove these features from your personal server, whether by using Spigot or the CurseForge mod.



If there are no complaints or discussions regarding the features, it's normal for players to be dissatisfied. Many people have spent over a decade playing the game and believe that they shouldn't be monitored. It's important to remember that Minecraft is a game with many younger players. Therefore security features must be in place to safeguard the players. However, it doesn't appear that anything will change anytime soon.
