Minecrafter Builds a Giant Halo ring that actually Spins

Home News Survival Minecraft Minecrafter builds a giant Halo ring that actually freaking spins

By Lauren Morton published 4 January 22

You will need to modify it However, you can download it and explore it.

A world made from cubes can't do circles. However, Minecraft players are not in any way afraid to defy logic and build incredible round structures. One brave builder went even beyond and threw away every rule to create an elongated ring that rotates. Yes, an entire moving Halo ring that includes different biomes as well as a beam emitter and an exploding Pelican. The most appealing thing is that you can download the ring and play around with it.

Reach A., a Minecraft YouTuber, claims that his Halo ring was inspired by an idea shared by another creator. The smaller world of a ring is impressive, but commenters on that post suggested it could be more exciting If it actually worked. Proximal.org Reach took on the challenge by using WorldEdit and Create to create and engineer rings that actually move.

It was a significant undertaking. To control the ring's movements He employed the Clockwork Bearing blocks from the Create mod. A single clockwork bearing welded to the ring's rim couldn't quite get the job done It was discovered. "The first time I tried to move it and it didn't render due to the entity generated being too big for Minecraft to handle," he explains.

Reach decided to split it into four sections with an axis bearing that rotates, and an arm. Reach ended with eight bearings that were attached to the sections of the ring as spokes. "I did think that it wouldn't work," he tells me, "but my stubbornness and desire to create something unique for YouTube and my audience was more than enough for me to pull through." What do you think? Holy hell, it moves!

If you'd like to see the majesty of a ring world yourself, you can download the project over on Planet Minecraft. You'll need to run it on Minecraft version 1.16 along with a few other mods such as Forge, Create, Flywheel, and some custom Halo textures if you'd like. Once inside, you'll manually start the bearings to get them moving. But once it's down on the ground, it will continue to tick.

It doesn't whirl around constantly and you won't have to keep up with the hamster wheel that spins forever. The entire ring spins in increments of 30 seconds. It was a good thing, since I was disoriented and motion sick while exploring it. It will take me a while to establish my space legs. Reach also required locking each block in order to make the ring spin as intended, so you won't actually be able to construct or mine here. It's a diorama, more than a playable world but still very cool.

You can listen to a bit more of the process that Reach used in the video on YouTube below, where he discusses the difficulties of designing the ring and the various decorative options he came up with to give the entire thing an Halo feel.

God bless the Minecraft builders. They never quit.
