For iT Administrators - get Minecraft: Education Edition

When you sign up for the Minecraft: Education Edition trial or purchase a Minecraft: Education Edition subscription, Minecraft: Education Edition will be added to the inventory in your Microsoft Admin Center which is linked to your Azure Active Directory (Azure AD) tenant. Your Microsoft Admin Center is only visible to employees of your company with administrative roles.



If you don't have an Azure AD or Office 365 tenant, you can set up an absolutely free Office 365 Education subscription when you request Minecraft Education Edition. For more information, please see Office 365 Education pricing and plans.



Configurations for Microsoft 365 A3 and Microsoft A5 customers with 365.



Schools who have purchased these products now have the option to make Minecraft Education Edition available to their students.



- Microsoft 365 A3 and Microsoft 365 A5 – Minecraft: Education Edition



Administrators can enable Minecraft: Education Edition for students using Microsoft 365 A3 and Microsoft 365 A5 in the event that these products are in your school's tenant. From the left-hand menu of Microsoft Admin Center, select Users. From the Users list, choose the users you want to remove or add to Minecraft: Education Edition access. If it hasn’t been assigned Add the A3 or A5 license.



Note



If you add a faculty license the user will be assigned the role of instructor in the application and will be granted elevated rights.



After you have selected the appropriate product license, ensure Minecraft: Education Edition is toggled on or off, depending on if you wish to add or remove Minecraft: Education Edition from the user (it will be turned on by default).



If you disable this option after your students have been using Minecraft: Education Edition they'll have up to 30 more days to use Minecraft: Education Edition before they lose access.



How do I obtain Minecraft Education Edition of Minecraft



Users with an Microsoft verified academic institution account will be granted access to the free trial limited logins to Minecraft: Education Edition. This grants faculty accounts 25 free logins and student accounts 10 free logins. To purchase direct licenses, go to Minecraft: Education Edition - direct purchase.



If you have been approved and are part of the Enrollment for Education Solutions volume licensing program, you can purchase an unlimited license for Minecraft Education Edition. For more details, visit Minecraft Education Edition Volume license.



Minecraft: Education Edition - direct purchase



Go to https://education.minecraft.net/ and select How to Buy in the top navigation bar.



Scroll down and choose Buy Now under Direct Purchase.



This will route you to the purchase page within the Microsoft Admin center. You'll need to sign into your Administrator account.



If necessary, complete any details regarding payment or your organization.



Select the number of licenses that you would like to purchase, and then click Place Order.



Once you've purchased the licenses You'll have to assign them to users in the Admin Center.



If you require additional licenses for Minecraft: Education Edition, look up Buy or Remove subscription licenses.



Minecraft: Education Edition - volume licensing



Educational institutions that are qualified can purchase Minecraft: Education Edition licenses through their Microsoft channel partner. Schools must be part of the Enrollment for Education Solutions (EES) volume licensing program. To determine which Minecraft: Education Edition licensing option is best suited for their institution Educational institutions should consult their channel partner. This is how it works:



- Your channel partner will submit your volume license purchase. Your licenses will be listed on Volume Licensing Service Center and will be available on your Microsoft Store for Education. - An email will be sent to you containing a a link for Microsoft Store for Education. Log in to Microsoft Store for Education to distribute and manage the Minecraft: Education Edition licenses. For more information about distribution options, please visit Distribute Minecraft



Payment options for Minecraft Education Edition



You can purchase Minecraft: Education Edition by credit or debit card, or with an invoice.



Credit or debit cards



Click to add a new method of payment when you purchase. Enter the required information for your credit or debit card.



Invoices



Invoices are now a supported payment method for Minecraft Education Edition. There are some requirements:



- Admins only (not supported for Teachers) Minimum invoice of $500 for your first purchase $15,000 invoice maximum (for all invoices within your organization)



To pay with an invoice



During the purchase when you are making the purchase, click Add a New payment method.



Select the Invoice option and then provide the information needed to create an invoice. You can also add a tracking number, or other information relevant to your company to the PO number item.
