Colon Cancer and Polyps
The survival rates for people suffering from colon cancer differ in accordance with the stage at the time of presentation. SEER research indicates that patients with stage I disease have a 74% five-year survival rate. Stage IIA and stage IIB have survival rates of 66 percent and 58% respectively. Stage IV has an average survival rate of 5%.

Colon cancer can be caused by polyps

Polyps are benign tumors that grow in the intestines. They may develop into cancerous. The colon is home to a range of different types of polyps. Although small polyps in the lower colon are considered benign but larger ones can turn cancerous. Colon polyps are caused by a variety of factors, so it's imperative to consult a doctor immediately if you have them. Detox colon pills will determine which type of polyp is causing your symptoms and whether or not you require treatment.

Polyps can be caused by several factors, including excessive drinking alcohol, eating processed foods and too much red meat. The presence of a polyp can be detected with an easy exam and bleeding can occur when you are passing stools. Some people might also notice that they have an increase in the frequency of bowel movements, but this doesn't mean you have colon cancer.

There are a variety of treatment options

There are three options to treat colon cancer that include targeted therapies, surgery, and chemotherapy. While chemotherapy is often the first option for treatment targeted therapies are generally reserved for those with advanced colon cancer. They can lengthen the lives of patients, however, they aren't effective in all instances. In some instances targeted therapies are paired with chemotherapy. These treatments can be administered alone or in combination with chemotherapy. In addition to chemotherapy, targeted therapies may include ablation, surgery, and embolization.

The most commonly used treatment for colon carcinoma is chemotherapy. It usually includes five-fluorouracil (leucovorin), capecitabine and oxaliplatin. Biologic agents, such as abemacic acid or a taxane derivative, can be used in conjunction with chemotherapy. Surgery is also an option for symptom relief and for treatment-oriented resection.

Survival rates

The survival rate of colon cancer is the percentage of people who are able to survive the disease for at least five years. This rate is higher than for prostate or breast cancer. However, it does not necessarily indicate the long-term outlook for patients suffering from colon cancer. It's based on many factors including the stage at which the cancer at diagnosis as well as the overall health of the patient, and the response to treatment.

In recent years, there has been some evidence that race and socioeconomic status have a direct impact on the chance of survival for people suffering from colon cancer. Researchers have identified a number of factors that affect cancer's prognosis, however it is difficult to pinpoint what is the reason. One of them is access to high-quality care.

Genetic testing

Genetic testing may be an option if you suspect that you or someone you know could be at risk for colon cancer. This test is conducted by collecting blood samples or saliva. If you've got a positive result, this can aid your doctor to create an informed treatment plan for you. Furthermore, genetic testing can help your doctor find out if your cancer risk is due to an alteration in the gene that controls colon growth.

Genetic testing is one of the best ways to identify colon cancer early. This type of colon cancer can be found in the rectum or large intestine, also known collectively as the colon. If you're a family member of someone who has this type of cancer Genetic counseling and tests can aid in identifying it early and more effectively treat it.
