Today, during its major WWDC keynote, Apple announced a few updates to the Apple TV platform. New apps coming include Sling TV (finally), Fox Sports, the French streaming service Molotov and the Minecraft: Story Mode game. Apple is also updating the remote app on your iPhone. The app functions more similar to the hardware remote, with navigation using touch, Siri voice search, and the ability to utilize the keyboard for input and game control using the accelerometer. In terms of the hardware it has a new feature called "Live Tune in" will allow you to instantly switch between livestreaming channels such as Disney, ESPN and more. There's also a dark-themed theme available, and Automatic App downloads mean that when you install a universal application on your iPhone or iPad it will also be available on your Apple TV too.
Apple has also addressed the issue of one sign-on to all network TV Everywhere apps. Just sign in with your info one time, and you'll be authenticated by all the apps that support it, which is applicable to the Apple TV and also mobile iOS devices.
Once a user has been authenticated with one network app, any Apple TV app from participating pay-TV providers will sign him into all supported apps that require authentication.
In the single sign-on process users can access the entire list of authenticated apps that a pay-TV service can provide to make it easier to find the apps, download and watch all their favorite video channels.

Any application on TV networks can take advantage of this technology to allow a single sign-on and simplify the process for viewers.
Single sign-on works on both iOS and Apple TV.
For the developers, Apple's offering HomeKit, ReplayKit and PhotoKit to TVOS. Now devs can tie in home automation features to TV apps, pull pictures in from the photostream and more. ReplayKit is already available on iOS 9, allows them to live broadcast and record directly from within apps. This could be the start of Twitch-like features on Apple TV or DVR-ish caching for live streams. A developer preview is available today, with all the new features, and they should be available to the rest us by the time we reach the end of September.
