Mojang Reassures Minecraft Fans about Microsoft Deal

Mojang reassures Minecraft fans about Microsoft deal

The boss of Minecraft-maker Mojang has assured fans about what will occur when Microsoft übernimms the company.

A $2.5bn (PS1.5bn) deal that will see Microsoft acquire Mojang was announced in mid-September.

Vu Bui, chief operating office of Mojang Vu Bui, Mojang's chief operating office, said there are no plans to change the game or change the way players can do with it.

He also said that feedback from players is vital to develop the game.

"Nothing's really changing," said Mr Bui. " "We don't have any plans to change and obviously, I'm not able to discuss the situation in detail and I don't know everything, but we're here, and the game is still going on and everything is the same as it was before."

Mojang had always sought to preserve the original impetus that made the game so popular, he said.

He stated, "Maintaining the original culture is a real challenge." "It's an attitude that respects the community and allows that community to be free to play as they please with the game and make it their own.

"It is our goal, as it always has been, to keep doing that," he told the BBC in an interview at London's Olympia exhibition centre where he was giving a keynote speech at the Brand Licensing Europe trade show.

Although Mr. Bui acknowledged the deal was still being worked out however, he stated that Mojang intends to continue to work closely with its huge community of players.

Many fans of the block-building game have expressed concern about what might take place after Microsoft has the ultimate say.

Markus Persson (aka Notch), is the Minecraft inventor. He wrote about his reasons for approaching Microsoft. He stated that it was too much for him to manage and was becoming an burden.

"I shouldn't be held accountable for something this big," he wrote soon after the details of the deal were released.

"It's not about the money," he added. "It's all about my sanity."

Bui stated that there would be some changes in the near future. However, these changes would still be based on the input, comments and feedback from fans.

The current system, which lets Minecraft developers communicate what they are working on for a long time before it is added to the game, would continue.

"We don't hide our features," he said.

Mojang began to show off the new games they were creating even though he wasn't aware of the specifics.

Mojang would allow players to test early versions of the game and help its creators improve it, Mr Bui said.

Similar approaches were used for Minecraft. Mojang wanted the similar process to be replicated because it was proven to benefit developers as they worked on a project.

It was not about trying to replicate the success of Minecraft to create a sequel that proved just as popular. Bui said it was more about faith in the overall approach.

He stated, "We believe that model." "Regardless of your art form people should certainly focus on the things they believe in, regardless of whether or not it will be successful.

He said, "That's a noble endeavor."

The same way, he added, Mojang believed that it was a mistake for anyone trying to manage or influence the Minecraft community and determine what can and cannot be done with the game.

The best option, he said to move out of the way.

Mr Bui stated that people are most creative when they are given the freedom to do what they like. Although you must give them some guidelines, they will be capable of coming up with better ideas than you could.
