The Kerem Tunnel provides a unique riding experience and hiking experience that is to be enjoyed by everyone.
The Kerem Tunnel, Israel's newest bicycle tunnel, has been constructed as a part of an extensive cycle path that is a loop around the capital.

The tunnel connects Nahal Refaim with Emek Motza. The tunnel's southern entrance can be found in Refaim Park below Ein Laban. While the northern entrance is in Nahal Ein Kerem about half an hour from the Kerem junction.

The 2.1-kilometer-long tunnel was officially inaugurated by Jerusalem's Heritage Minister ZeevElkin. It was also attended by Mayor Moshelion, Avi Balehnikov, Gihon Water Company Chairman, as well as thousands of cyclists.

Elkin's Ministry Elkin's Ministry Tourism Ministry, Jerusalem Municipality, and the Gihon Corporation all contributed to the project. The Jerusalem Development Authority completed the work.

Elkin said that the Kerem Tunnel project is an essential tool for achieving the goal to alter the concept and transportation throughout Jerusalem. Elkin stated that the new tunnel connects with the Jerusalem Ring Path and will link with existing bike trails. It will also be paved in its different areas. The Kerem Tunnel first was excavated in the late 90s to relocate a main sewer line for the Gihon Corporation towards Sorek. It is now being used as an infrastructure tunnel which includes the fifth waterline to Jerusalem via the Mekorot water corporation.

Road construction installation, blowers, sophisticated safety systems and electrical wiring are all part and parcel of the present work. The tunnel is safe for the people to use all entire year.

The Kerem Tunnel allows for access to unique recreation areas, such as Ein Kerem, a neighborhood which includes a Biblical zoo and aquarium as well as ancient natural springs Ein Haniyeh and Ein Laban.
