Mojang Reassures Minecraft Fans about Microsoft Deal

Mojang reassures Minecraft fans about Microsoft deal

The boss of Minecraft-maker Mojang has reassured those who are worried about what will occur when Microsoft takes over.

In mid-September, Microsoft announced a $2.5bn (PS1.5bn), deal to purchase Mojang.

Vu Bui, chief operating office of Mojang said that there are no plans to change the game or alter the way people can do with it.

He added that feedback from players remains essential to help improve the game.

"Nothing's really going to change," stated Mr Bui. We have no plans on any change and obviously I'm not able discuss the situation and I don't have all the information, but we're still here, the game's still here and it's business as usual."

Mojang had always sought to keep the original spirit that made the game so popular, he stated.

"Maintaining the original culture is really difficult," he said. It's a culture that respects the community and lets them play however they like in the game.

"It is definitely the intention to continue, as it always been, to keep doing this," he said to the BBC during an BBC interview at London's Olympia exhibition center in which he was delivering an address as the keynote speaker at the Brand Licensing Europe trade fair.

While Mr. Bui acknowledged the deal was not yet in the works however, he stated that Mojang intends to continue to work closely with its huge community of players.

Many block-building enthusiasts have expressed concern about what could occur in the event that Microsoft takes full control.

Markus Persson (aka Notch) is the Minecraft creator. He wrote about the reasons he was approaching Microsoft. He stated that it was too difficult for him to handle and was becoming a burden.

He wrote, "I can't take responsibility for something like this," shortly after details of the deal were revealed.

"It's not about the money," he added. "It's about my sanity."

Mr. Bui said there would undoubtedly be some changes in the future but they would be made with the input, feedback and comments of fans.

The current system, which lets Minecraft developers communicate what they are working on long before it is added to the game, will continue.

He added, "We don't keep our features secret."

Mojang began to showcase the new games they were developing even though he didn't know the specifics.

Mojang would allow players to try out the first versions of a game and help its creators improve it, Mr Bui said.

Similar strategies were employed with Minecraft and Mojang decided to replicate the process since it was demonstrated to benefit developers when they worked on the development of a project.

It wasn't about trying to duplicate the success of Minecraft to create a new game that was equally popular. It was more about faith in the overall concept Mr Bui.

He said, "We believe that model." "Regardless of the art form you choose, people should invest their time and energy in what they believe in, regardless of whether or not it is successful.

He said, "That's a noble endeavor."

Mojang also said that it was wrong to attempt to manage the Minecraft community or determine what can be done within the game.

He stated that it was better to move out of the way.

"People are at their best when you just let them be creative and do whatever they want to," said Mr Bui. "You need to provide them with guidelines but generally when you let people be creative, they will come up with more interesting things than we could ever imagine ourselves."
