WRUP: Giant Robots for the Win Edition

Before I went to see Pacific Rim, I knew I would love it. I love giant robots and kaiju films, so it promised to be fun and dumb. As it turned out, it was excellent fun and without the dread. It's not a cerebral film, but it's one that is filled with love letters to the genres it influenced. There are homages, but there's no need to delve into the past.



You can skip 3D since it didn't use it to its fullest effect. But if you’re even at all interested in the movie, go to see it. It's worth every penny and more.



I could wax poetic about the film however WRUP isn't about what films we love to watch. You'll find exactly that when you've got beyond the break. You can feel free to let us know what games you'll be playing on the weekend down in the comments.



@Beau_Hindman: I'm something of a shooter nut lately, more so than I was before. I'll be playing in PlanetSide 2, Defiance, and now Firefall which is absolutely stunning. My wife has her new gaming laptop, so we can destroy things together. It's hard. I'll also be participating in RuneScape's Bacon Quest. It looks incredible, but the bacon jerky they sent tasted insanely bad.



@nbrianna: I'm not sure where I'll be this weekend. Ultima Online lapses soon, my EVE Online freebie lapsed, and Guild Wars 2, I'm told is in the last week turned into a series involving jumping puzzles that don't have a way out. I'm sure I'm mad when World of Warcraft has started looking appealing again. Save me the Steam summer sale!



@PsykopigAU: Guild Wars 2 is definitely on the menu for me this weekend, however I've been thinking about making a short trip to Star Wars: The Old Republic because of the closing of the servers on the ocean. It brought back memories of the wonderful times I spent playing PVP on low-ping servers and also made me realize how much I miss the game.



@Eliot_Lefebvre: This is the final weekend of closed testing in Final Fantasy XIV, so I'll be taking care of this. I've got a lot to work on in Star Wars: The Old Republic before the next patch comes out and I've got a 3DS to play on. Theatrhythm Final Fantasy and Fire Emblem Awakening are better than mobile games and have a right to be.



@irljasmine: Currently my gaming time is spent exploring Eorzea with my tiny archer. Mining In Runescape Servers I am enjoying Final Fantasy XIV's A Realm Reborn beta quite a lot so I'll be taking in every bit of beta goodness I can. When it's time to take a break from moogles, chocobos, I'll be trying to figure out how my town was built on top of so many fossils in Animal Crossing. It's a possibily dangerous danger.



@jefreahard Jefreahard: I'll be participating in NCAA Football 14. I know, I'm one of them however, look at it this way. Georgia Tech will never win another national championship if it's not playing on another console. Oh and GT Legends is an old racing sim that I found on Steam. Best $2.49 I've ever spent.



@MJ_Guthrie - I'm planning to get the final guardian pet at The Secret World's anniversary celebration and I will not leave until that happens! I'm just trying to take them all! I'm really only going to need two more (which sadly equates to many, many golem bosses). If I'm lucky, I might be able to enter Fusang for my last one. If I manage to complete my set before the weekend ends I'll be weaving some songs on my Songweaver Aion. And then most likely come back to TSW for more golems.



@RichieProcopio: This weekend , I'll be playing Guild Wars 2. This new system of recompense for achievements has really tamed my OCD tendencies. I now see the game as a long achievement meter that must be filled to capacity. A hellfire helmet is waiting for my Norn at the end of the race. He can remove it and relax in its warmth. Things just got awkward, didn't they?



@Epykbeard I'll be playing lots of Wurm Online and some PlanetSide 2 to mix the games. Spartacus Legends is a favorite of mine on the Xbox, and I plan to continue playing that. The Steam sale in the summer will ruin my plans completely and I'll end playing BioShock Infinite which everyone else beat three months ago.
