What to Know
To install Linux, open Chromebook Settings. Select Linux (Beta), > Turn on in The Linux Pane. Select Next, enter a username, select Install.
Download the Debian/Ubuntu Minecraft.deb file. Save it in Linux files under My Files. Double-click Minecraft.deb and choose Install.
Once the installation is completed, start App Drawer and navigate to the Linux folder. Choose Minecraft Launcher to launch your game.

How to Get Minecraft On Chromebook
You can play Minecraft on Windows, Linux, macOS and even on mobile devices such as Android or iOS. There hasn't been an official Chromebook version of Minecraft. However you can install Linux through your Chromebook settings page. Once you have done that you can install and play Minecraft on a Chromebook easily.
Open Chromebook Settings, choose Linux (Beta), and then install Linux on your Chromebook. Select to turn on the Linux pane.
The local storage of your Chromebook will be used to set up Linux. To ensure that you have enough storage, you can use the Chromebook file manager.
Select Next to continue in the pop-up Linux setup window. Select Install and enter a username for your Linux session. Chromebook can take a while to download and configure the virtual machine on which Linux is installed. Once it's done, a Linux terminal window will open.

Visit the Minecraft download page and download the Debian/Ubuntu Minecraft.deb file to your Chromebook. Save the file to the Linux files folder within your Chromebook storage area.
Double-click the Minecraft.deb folder and click the Install button to install Minecraft on your Chromebook's Linux virtual machine.

You can play the Demo without having to purchase Minecraft. To play the full versionof Minecraft, you will need to click the Buy Now link and purchase Minecraft Java Edition.
How to Play Minecraft on Chromebook
Minecraft will run fine on your Chromebook following the steps above to install it. The game could be a little slow or the mouse might not function properly. You can alter some settings on Chromebook to improve performance and decrease the possibility of experiencing bugs.

Install OptiFine in Minecraft
If you have a lower-end Chromecast device and find that Minecraft remains a bit slow even after changing the settings above it is possible to install OptiFine for Minecraft. This app optimizes your framerate on lower-end Chromebooks. Download the most recent version, save it to your Linux file folder, and then use the Terminal window to type.

Select Install to install OptiFine to your Chromebook Linux installation.

You're playing it inside an Linux virtual machine that is running on your Chromebook. So as the Minecraft servers know you're playing Minecraft on a Linux machine.
This means that so long as you have one of the supported Chromebook devices, you are able to run Linux (Beta) and use Minecraft on your Chromebook without any issues at all.
