To help bring attention to the devastation of mangroves as well as the significant benefits they bring, Minecraft created Rooted Together Interactive Map where players can explore the mangrove-based ecosystem in-game.
The game allows players to plant mangroves, monitor CO2 levels and see new wildlife. It is an interactive demonstration of how trends in climate as well as biodiversity and climate change are affected by the mangrove ecosystem's health. The more mangroves players plant the less likely climate change, and the more animals that can return to their homes.
TNC Conservation Support
Mojang Studios will contribute $200,000 to TNC to help us achieve our goals, in addition to the mangrove interaction in game ecosystems. In addition, Minecraft creators hosted individual charity streams this past July, which saw 33,500 live viewers and over 350,000 video on demand views. The creators played Minecraft live and assisted in educating viewers about the importance of mangroves around the world, as well as presented some of the TNC's efforts to save and restore this vital ecosystem.
