Do you own a Nintendo Switch and occasionally enjoy playing mobile games on your iPhone or iPad? You'll be happy to be aware that the iOS 16 update will allow users to connect Nintendo Joy-Con controllers directly to your Apple device. It's among the five hidden features of the latest operating system.

Game-makers have made mobile gaming more complicated over the past few years. Services like Xbox Cloud Gaming and GeForce Now let you play games such as Call of Duty, Fortnite and Apex Legends which can be difficult to master on your mobile device. A gaming controller may be required if your tablet or phone has smaller screens than your TV.
Apple does not have to be the first to utilize third-party controllers. In the moment you can connect the DualSense from PlayStation and the wireless controller for Xbox to your iPhone or iPad. Controllers from other companies like the Razer Kishi and the Backbone One are designed specifically to be used on mobile devices for gaming.

If you already have an Nintendo Switch, you don't have to purchase a third-party gaming console. There are two Joy-Cons that are connected to your console. The best part is, connecting the Joy-Cons to your iPhone or iPad takes just several minutes.
To make this work, you'll need to be running iOS 16, which is currently available as public beta. Here's how to download it right now.
How do you pair your JoyCons with your iPhone or iPad If they're not charged they can be connected to your Nintendo Switch while it is charging in the dock. When your Joy-Cons are fully charged and ready to go remove them from your console and follow the following:
1. First, press and hold down the black pairing button on top of the Joy-Con until the green light begins to flash back and forth. This will put the Joy-Con in pairing mode.
2. Next, open Settings > Bluetooth on your iPhone/iPad.
3. Scroll down to find the Joy-Con in Other Devices. You'll find either Joy-Con (L) or Joy-Con (R), depending on which Joy-Con you're currently pairing.
4. To pair it, just tap the Joy-Con option. If needed repeat the process with the other Joy-Con.

After your Joy-Cons are connected and connected, you can play any game that has third-party controllers, such as Minecraft, Among Us and Call of Duty, and play with your newly-paired Joy-Cons. Some mobile games do not allow both Joy-Con controllers at once and you may only need to pair one.
To unpair the Joy-Cons go to Settings >Bluetooth, tap the blue icon that indicates information, then press Disconnect.
