Week 40: Bath

It wasn't the most ideal way to start the week. We discovered a leakage of water from the bathroom on Monday morning. The water was leaking down the ceiling and into the server cabinet that houses the boiler, fusebox and my rack. The router was dead and fizzing, but we didn't short the electrical circuits. It could have been more serious. The shower head was in its holster and left on its lowest setting, allowing water into the room below, was the culprit.

I had a dental appointment at 9am that day which meant the added stress wasn't a good thing! I was a bit stressed when I thought about my soggy home under the bright lights however, it was all good.

- That evening the worry was that there was still water pooled under the bath, so I tried to remove the side panel by removing the sealant using a Stanley knife. It was a waste of time since the bath had been tiled and its bottom blocked off. Great.

My dad was there to seal the bath and reassure us that it will be perfectly. We'll have to dry the cabinet and paint the ceiling or walls.

- The boys have been learning about the Queen in school in preparation for their Jubilee party this week. C IT The school had decorated its playground with red, white and blue bunting and the entire school sat down for an Jubilee tea party. They can all say how old they are and also other royal facts they've learned.

We purchased an Nintendo Switch. H had been desperate to get one for a while, but it was never the right time. He was too young. They were out of stocks. The price was frequently increased and so on. But using an John Lewis offer we purchased the newish OLED version, as well as additional Joy-Cons, and three games: Minecraft, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Super Mario 3D World (with Bowser's Fury). It's as well-designed as I would imagine and the games are as amazing as I would have expected from Nintendo.

We emphasized that this was a family Switch in order that his little brother (and father!) can play and he wouldn't claim it as his own. When we unveiled the box and he jumped around the living room with the biggest smile on his face. It was thrilling to watch it in action, but nothing can compare to the happiness it brought to his life.
