Learning about your government and your country is often not the most exciting thing in the world. This is why the Danish Geodata Agency recreated the entire country of Denmark in 1:1 scale in Minecraft to make learning more fun. The Internet decided to teach the Danes an important lesson about... we don’t even know. Why can't we have nice things?
See, despite the DGA shutting off dynamite from the map they created that used more than 4 trillion blocks and 1 terabyte of data - intrepid Minecraft players discovered that in-game carts which carried the dynamite were in operation. By exploiting this vulnerability players blew up areas of virtual Denmark towns, and sometimes erected American flags and tanks in their stead. Classy.

DGA spokesperson Chris Hammeken told UK news site The Register that only minor areas were affected and that the DGA does not plan to restart the map. "We consider that as a nature of playing Minecraft - elements are destroyed and new are being created," Hammeken said. "Therefore we won't restart the demonstration of Denmark in Minecraft. We will occasionally rebuild small areas, if structures have been removed and no new structures are being constructed.
