Neve Paritzki (נווה פריצקי)Jerusalem is the site of the world's first bicycle tunnel in Israel.

The Kerem Tunnel is a great location to go on a hike or ride.
The Kerem Tunnel, the first bicycle tunnel in Israel is now open as part of the Jerusalem Ring Path, a 42-kilometer cycling route that surrounds the capital city.

The tunnel links Nahal Refaim and Emek Motza. The tunnel's southern entrance is located within Refaim Park below Ein Laban. The northern entrance can be found in Nahal Ein Kerem about half one kilometer from the Kerem junction.

The 2.1-kilometers-long tunnel project was officially inaugurated in a ceremony held on Thursday that was attended by Jerusalem and Heritage Minister Ze'ev Elkin Mayor Moshe Lion, Gihon water company chairman Avi Baleshnikov as well as hundreds of cyclists.

Jerusalem was once a major tourist attraction because of its rich past. Elkin stated that today as well as its rich history the tunnel construction project includes modern tourism. "The launch of the tunnel project is another aspect of the growth of Jerusalem as well as its transformation to an attractive tourist destination for all types across Israel and the world.


Elkin who, through his ministry and the Jerusalem Municipality led the project, said that his ministry "invests hundreds of millions of shekels per year in the growth of all aspects Jerusalem's tourism and the design and operation of innovative tourist attractions, ventures, and activities which connect the rich past of our eternal city to the future". I would like to invite cyclists to ride along a the modern, well-maintained cycle route, which overlooks the stunning nature of Old Jerusalem.

Elkin stated, "The Kerem Tunnel project will be the central tool for achieving our dream to change the way transportation is conducted in Jerusalem." "The tunnel is set to connect to the Jerusalem Ring Path. It will link to the numerous cycling routes that exist within the city. The paths will be paved within the diverse neighborhoods. The goal is to promote cycling among the residents of Jerusalem.

The Kerem Tunnel, originally excavated by the Gihon Corporation in the 1990s to relocate the main sewer line toward Sorek's purification plant.

The current work includes road construction, installation blowers as well as advanced safety systems to ensure that the tunnel is safe for all to use during the entire year.
