Tim Sweeney, founder and CEO of Epic Games, says that the Epic Games store "definitely won't" restrict the sale of games which contain NFTs. Sweeney's comments follow an announcement from Minecraft developer Mojang that outlined the company's position to not permit blockchain technologies or NFTs to be used in Minecraft.
One user contacted Sweeney via Twitter to inquire if Epic Games would adopt a similar position to Mojang. However, Sweeney replied in the negative.

"Developers should be able to decide how to build their games, and you are free to decide whether to play them," he says. "I believe that stores and operating system developers shouldn't interfere by forcing their opinions on others. We shouldn't.
Sweeney's comments were reacted to by another user who asked what is the difference between this and Epic Games their policy on discriminatory and hateful content. Sweeney stated that the differs due to "editorial and brand judgements" and believes that Epic decides "to draw the line at acceptable to mainstream norms."
Some users on the PC gaming subreddit have criticized Sweeney's stance, highlighting how the Epic CEO has previously spoken out against NFTs. In September 2021, Sweeney publicly posted a copy of an email response in a Twitter reply, which reads "We don't want to touch NFTs because the whole field is currently caught up in a complex combination of scams, fascinating foundations for decentralised technology, and frauds."
Sweeney has now stated that he believes Epic Game store developers should be able to pursue these integrations but he's not ambiguous. In his tweet in response that "Crypto is a complex.
