Yes the image you see above is a map built in Minecraft. It's part a 16-kilometer realistic terrain project that offers an array of topography to you to build on. It's a stunning collection of deserts mountains, swamps, and forests that you can download and use as a background for your own Minecraft constructions.

The map is dubbed Kythor and was built by qwryzu over the course of around two months of work with World Machine and World Painter. "I deliberately designed this map with large open spaces for building," qwryzu says, "specifically with mods (shoutout Immersive Railroading gang). Although it's not the most detailed map I've ever made, I hope the map serves as a backdrop for massive builds.
You can download the map for yourself over on Planet Minecraft. It's available for Java Edition, and while it was built in 1.12.2 however, it's compatible with any version currently in use however qwryzu isn't certain whether the changes in world height in 1.17 could cause problems.
