Seven Spectacular Minecraft Creations

Seven stunning Minecraft creations By Joe Miller Technology reporter

Many of us remember being first introduced to Minecraft by Microsoft when it announced that it would pay $2.5bn (PS1.5bn), for the company that developed the most played video game.

For many years a dedicated community has been working on intricate cyberspace-based marvels in Minecraft for many years.

Here are seven of the best:

Game of Thrones

Mapmakers WesterosCraft is on a mission to recreate the world George RR Martin created in the Game of Thrones books. The goal is to create an opportunity for roleplaying in the fantasy world.

A working 16-bit computer

A Minecraft gamer who goes by the username ohmganesha created a fully functional 16-bit laptop in less than two weeks. The virtual machine has 32 bytes RAM (random-access memory) and 256 bytes ROM (read only memory).

This Cathedral

Patrix, the edifice's architect, said it took him only a couple of nights to build. He said that he had never visited a cathedral in person.

A working hard drive

Cody Littley's hard drive is able to store a single kilobyte of data, which may appear uninteresting when compared to ordinary discs until you consider that Mr Littley - an academic in computer science in Texas - built it piece-by-piece.

An entire city

The artists behind the Aurora City Project admit it could never be completed and the details of their cityscapes give some indication as to why. Here are some pictures.

All of Denmark

To aid children in learning, the Danish government decided to map the entire country on Minecraft. However the project was later vandalized, with parts of the landscape being destroyed with virtual "dynamite".

A playable guitar

Disco the creator of Minecraft, can play 10 chords of open chords on his cyber guitar. A demo is available here.
